After breakfast, drive to Tarangire for a full day game drive. One of Africa’s little-known gems, it should be on the itinerary of all lovers of wilderness & solitude.
The landscape is incredibly diverse with a mix that is not found anywhere else on the northern safari circuit; it is dotted with ancient baobab trees & large termite mounds & the Tarangire River is the only source of water during the dry season when the harsh sun suck the moisture from the landscape, baking the earth a dusty red while during the wet season you will experience dense bush & luscious high grasses.
Famous for its large elephant population, it is also home to zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, waterbuck, baboons, & impala. Predators include lion, cheetah & leopard. The swamps are shared by flocks of birds; green wood hoopoes, lovebirds, tallish herons, white bellied go-away birds & giant kingfishers. On drier ground you will find the kori bustard & the heaviest of the flying birds; the ostrich.
Overnight at Bougainvillea Safari Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
After an early breakfast, depart towards the most famous National park in the World, the Serengeti. The driving itself, although long, is spectacular. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in local language, “endless plains”. The park has 6,900 sq. mile (18,000 sq. km) and for most of it, the plains will stretch to the horizon defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the Great Migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and all kinds of antelopes. As for Big Cats and large predators, it’s the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, with many television scenes like the famous river crossings having been filmed in this park

Rise and shine! It’s an early departure for us today to the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This morning’s destination is the world famous Ngorongoro Crater, one of the seven wonders of Africa, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once we have reached the crater rim, we descend the steep track into the 600 m deep caldera to see a range of animals, grasslands, birds and a lake. The massive collapsed volcano is home to over 25,000 mammals ranging from the “Big Five” to spotted hyena and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. An extensive wildlife game drive with an astonishing landscape view and a picnic lunch in the crater at the famous hippo pool.
Overnight at Country Lodge Karatu (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
After breakfast, proceed to Lake Eyasi to explore Tanzania’s most iconic Tribes and Practices. After the thrilling experience return back to Arusha.
On Your Lake Eyasi Tour
you will be introduced to the extraordinary people who belong to an indigenous tribe known as the ‘Hadzabe’ (hunter-gatherer bushmen). The tribe inhabits the shores of Lake Eyasi as do the Nilotic-speaking Datoga tribe.
Early morning we depart to the village for local hunting experience with Hadzabe and Datonga tribes. This is not a mere performance. The bushmen rely on these techniques to survive and you’ll need to be very attentive and at times quiet, while they demonstrate their use of locally made poisons in incapacitating the poor creatures on which they depend for survival.
You will visit these tribes, which will include a visit to their homesteads, learn about their way of life, animal tracking, medicinal plants, and much more. Some wildlife and a wide range of bird species can be viewed during walks around the lake, which can be arranged.
Overnight at Moivaro Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
After breakfast, proceed to Kilimanjaro for Chagga Experience Tour where you will learn a lot about the Chagga Tribe, history and practices. The exact order of activities on your tour may vary, but all of our Marangu Village tours include:
Kilasya Falls: The walk to these picturesque falls is a leisurely hike through local banana plantations and quiet clusters of homes. You’ll use stepping stones to cross the river and there’s a bit of muddy downhill hiking to get there, but the reward at the end is a towering waterfall with blessedly cool waters beneath. The particularly adventurous may even wish to hop in for a quick swim.
Local coffee plantation tour: You’ll pay a visit to a locally owned and operated coffee plantation to learn more about the process that takes the beans from the tree to our cups. Try your hand at manually grinding and roasting beans, and reward your hard work with some delicious, fresh coffee.
Chaga tunnels tour: You’ll venture down into the inky black darkness of the tunnels in which Chaga sheltered when the Maasai would raid from the lowlands. Your guide will guide you unerringly through the underground labyrinth as he describes the days of guerilla warfare and how the people survived underground for so long.
Banana beer tasting: Visit a local banana beer vendor to try this potent local brew.
