Itinerary

Day 1ZANZIBAR – ARUSHA – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

You will be picked up from your Zanzibar Accommodation and transferred to Zanzibar Airport for your flight to Arusha where your guide/driver will be waiting for you excited to thrill you with a astonishing Safari, drive to Tarangire for a full day game drive. One of Africa’s little-known gems, it should be on the itinerary of all lovers of wilderness & solitude.

The landscape is incredibly diverse with a mix that is not found anywhere else on the northern safari circuit; it is dotted with ancient baobab trees & large termite mounds & the Tarangire River is the only source of water during the dry season when the harsh sun suck the moisture from the landscape, baking the earth a dusty red while during the wet season you will experience dense bush & luscious high grasses.

Famous for its large elephant population, it is also home to zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, waterbuck, baboons, & impala. Predators include lion, cheetah & leopard. The swamps are shared by flocks of birds; green wood hoopoes, lovebirds, tallish herons, white bellied go-away birds & giant kingfishers. On drier ground you will find the kori bustard & the heaviest of the flying birds; the ostrich.

Overnight at Olea Farm House (Lunch & Dinner)

Day 2NGORONGORO CRATER

Rise and shine! It’s an early departure for us today to the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This morning’s destination is the world famous Ngorongoro Crater, one of the seven wonders of Africa, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once we have reached the crater rim, we descend the steep track into the 600 m deep caldera to see a range of animals, grasslands, birds and a lake. The massive collapsed volcano is home to over 25,000 mammals ranging from the “Big Five” to spotted hyena and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. An extensive wildlife game drive with an astonishing landscape view and a picnic lunch in the crater at the famous hippo pool.

Overnight at Olea Farm House (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

DAY 3 LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK – ARUSHA – ZANZIBAR

Pickup from your hotel at 8am and start a beautiful journey across the Great Rift Valley for a full day game drive. Although small in dimension (205 sq. miles), the park has breathtaking scenery and well famous for its lush acacia forest, giant figs and mahogany trees, as well as to a growing population of baboons and blue monkeys. Permanent residents of this park also include giraffes, elephants, impalas and a huge amount of buffaloes.

The lake is also home to a large number of hippos. The landscapes of Lake Manyara are something that can not be described with words, and the game drives along the lake provide stunning photo opportunities of giraffes and buffaloes in the foreground and the lake in the background. Some possible extra tours are possible, including a bike tour or a boat excursion. Afternoon return back to Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Arriving at Zanzibar you will be transferred to your Zanzibar Accommodation.
